In Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 there is a RIG similar to the Level 3 suit called the CEC Engineering Suit. And in the PlayStation Home mall for $3.98 for the complete RIG only. The entire RIG can be purchased in the Avatar Marketplace in Xbox LIVE for 480 Microsoft Points (Helmet for 160 Microsoft Points and Abdomen for 320 Microsoft Points. However the vertical light formed by the slits may represent a 4th slit, similar to a Level 4 RIG. The suit has three slits in the helmet's plating covering Isaac's face, indicating it is a Level 3 Suit. In the Dead Space: Aftermath, the engineer crew uses a RIG similar to the level 3 suit, but with a grey finish and a folding face cover. Similar to the Advanced Suit from Dead Space 2 and the Arctic Survival Suit from Dead Space 3, the level 3 RIG suit appears to act as a symbol of the first Dead Space. The suit appears frequently in early screenshots of the game as well as in advertisements and marketing productions of the game. This suit became the defacto representation of RIG suits in the franchise. Despite being put on like any normal helmet, the suit's helmet still forms an airtight seal, it could be speculated that it uses the same membrane system when the helmet is put on as the more advanced CEC Engineering Suit. The suit also made an appearance in the Previously on Dead Space feature for Dead Space 2, even appearing in the representation of Dead Space's ending. This suit only has 10 storage spaces, holding fewer supplies than any other suit. By contrast, the suit in the remake is much more high quality with less wear and tear, along with being more standardized among other the CEC Engineers aboard the Ishimura. This pre-existing wear slowly disappears more and more as the suit is upgraded. From the beginning of the original game, the suit appears to be badly worn and damaged. Isaac's ID tag can be seen on the left of his chest while wearing the suit, but disappears when the RIG is upgraded. It closely resembles the Standard Astronaut RIG due to the fact that it is almost skin-tight and has a small projection system for holographic display. 
The Standard Engineer RIG is the most basic form of Resource Integration Gear available for engineers throughout the course of their employment.
